Hi, I’m Lis! I created BABS—Be A Blessing Sourdough—as a space where my love for sourdough, whole-body health, fitness, and faith could come together in a meaningful way. My own journey hasn’t been a straight line. It’s been shaped by learning, growing, struggling, healing, and discovering how God meets us in the everyday moments—whether we’re caring for our bodies, kneading dough, or strengthening our spiritual walk.

What started with a simple desire to share my sourdough recipes soon became something deeper. I realized that wellness is not just about the food we eat or the workouts we complete; it’s about nurturing the body, mind, and spirit with intention. Sourdough became a symbol of that for me: a slow, intentional, life-giving process that teaches patience, gratitude, and joy.

BABS exists because I truly want to be a blessing to others. My heart is that this space encourages you, supports you, and equips you with tools and inspiration—whether you’re just beginning your sourdough journey, pursuing a healthier lifestyle, or deepening your faith. I believe every small step can be sacred, and that God uses the simplest parts of our routines to shape us into who He created us to be.

Here, you’ll find recipes, practical tips for wellness and fitness, reflections on faith, and honest conversations about what it looks like to live a balanced and grace-filled life. My hope is that you feel welcomed, uplifted, and reminded that you don’t have to walk this journey alone.

I’m grateful you’re here. May this space bless you, inspire you, and encourage you to thrive—physically, spiritually, and in every area of your life.

Why Did You Start Be A Blessing Sourdough (BABS)?

Be A Blessing Sourdough (BABS) is a faith-centered space where sourdough, wellness, fitness, and intentional living come together. It’s designed to help people nourish their bodies, strengthen their spiritual walk, and find encouragement through practical tips, recipes, and reflections. BABS exists to uplift others and offer support on the journey toward a healthier, more balanced, and faith-filled life.

What began as a simple goal—to provide healthier options for myself and my family—has grown into a platform where I can share, teach, and encourage others. I’m not a “professional baker” by any means; I’m still learning as I go, and that’s part of the beauty of the journey.

I felt called to start sharing what I’ve learned because so many people have reached out for help. Creating these Notion pages (another passion of mine!) gives me the opportunity to support you right where you are—almost like being in your homes with you.

What is your goal behind BABS?

My goal is to help others learn how to get started at home in the simplest way possible—with recipes that taste great and (most of the time) look great too. When I first began my sourdough journey, I was so overwhelmed by all the information out there that I nearly gave up. Eventually, I decided to strip everything back, simplify, and just see what happened.

To my surprise, things started turning out beautifully! Once I stopped stressing over all the “rules,” my results improved—and the process became enjoyable. Now I’m here to take the complication out of sourdough and empower anyone who wants to become an at-home baker.

Along the way, I’ve discovered how beautifully faith, fitness, and sourdough all connect—caring for the body God gave us, nourishing ourselves with real food, and finding joy in the simple, slow, intentional rhythms of daily life. It’s all part of the same journey, and I’m grateful to walk it with you. You can read more on my About BABS page.

Why did you call your site Be A Blessing Sourdough?

Interest in sourdough has exploded since COVID, and more people than ever are choosing it as their bread of choice. But because sourdough is such a time-intensive process, homemade loaves often cost far more than the cheap, unhealthy bread found in stores.

As I began to get comfortable with sourdough, people at my church started asking if they could buy it from me. Instead of becoming a licensed baker, I felt led to be a blessing and give it away. My heart was for everyone to enjoy sourdough—regardless of what they could afford.

Many individuals chose to bless me in return by contributing money toward the cost of ingredients, allowing me to keep baking and keep giving. And from that simple act of generosity, Be A Blessing Sourdough was born.

Do you sell sourdough?

I don’t hold an official cottage baker’s license to sell sourdough. When I first began, I chose to give my baked goods away, allowing people to offer an optional gift to help cover the cost of ingredients. I still operate with that same heart today. What has grown even stronger is my passion for teaching others—empowering anyone who wants to learn so they can bake for themselves, save their families money, and enjoy healthier homemade options.

How do you make an income if you are doing everything for free?

My goal with starting BABS was not to get rich! In my 20’s I was a missionary so I have a heart to help people. As the Bible says in Acts 20:35 “It is better to give than recieve.” I have seen how God ALWAYS takes care of those who are generous. I trust that as I help others, He too will take care of me. I am also set up to be an Amazon Affiliate which means if anyone purchase any of my recommended items from amazon (or similar things), I may make a small commission. I started doing this simply because I was recommending so many items to people on Amazon, why not make a little commission along the way!

My goal in starting BABS was never to get rich. In my twenties, I served as a missionary, and that experience shaped my heart for helping others. As Scripture says in Acts 20:35, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” I’ve seen time and time again how God faithfully provides for those who live generously, and I trust that as I pour into others, He will continue to take care of my family.
